- Tell us a little about yourself and your background. What inspired you to pursue a career in education?
I’ve spent more than 20 years in education, as both a classroom teacher and serving as the director of a local teacher center, where I supported teachers through mentoring and professional development. I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees as well as my advanced studies in educational leadership at Binghamton University. I was drawn to education by my own positive experiences and relationships at school and my desire to help grow and develop the next generation of students.
- What attracted you to our district and made you want to join our school community?
I was drawn to Vestal because of its strong sense of community and its commitment to students. From its academic achievements and diverse opportunities to its wide range of clubs and athletic programs, Vestal is a place where students can thrive both academically and socially. I wanted to be part of a school community where I could build meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families while continuing to grow as an educational leader.
- What do you enjoy most about working with middle school students?
I enjoy being part of such an important time in students’ lives. Middle schoolers are figuring out who they are and what they care about, and they bring so much energy, humor, and curiosity to school each day. It’s rewarding to help them build confidence and know that they have adults in their corner.
- What are you most looking forward to in your new role?
I’m most looking forward to getting to know the students, staff, and families who make Vestal Middle School special. I’m excited to be in classrooms, at school events, and in the hallways, learning what makes this community strong and how I can best support it.
- What is one thing you hope students and families know about you?
I hope they know that I’m here for them. My door is open, and I will listen with care and work to make sure every student feels known and supported.
- What do you enjoy doing outside of school?
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my wife, our three children, and, of course, our dog. I am also an avid sports fan, particularly when it comes to baseball and football, and I enjoy relaxing with a good book.
